The Body Merchants - Burke and Hare documentary

http://www.burkeandharedvd.com Edinburgh 1828... It's the height of the resurrection period and the 'sack-em-up' men are secretly snatching bodies from out of their graves under cover of darkness to sell for the anatomists' dissecting tables. The furious public are up in arms, rioting in the streets, but the authorities are turning a blind eye and the legal profession refuses to address the problem as it spirals out of control. The citizens of Edinburgh take to guarding the graves of their newly-deceased loved ones until putrefaction sets in, in order to try to thwart the body snatchers. But the stench of death and the fear of capture does not deter them as the lure of easy money makes the resurrection men cunning and ever bolder, for the doctors require still-more fresh bodies for their dissecting tables -- and they pay extremely well. It's a time of fear, distrust and deceit. But events are about to take a far more sinister turn... Enter two ghouls in human form with murder on their minds, stalking the dark Edinburgh streets looking for vulnerable victims. Their names...William Burke and William Hare. Their plan...to take advantage of the chronic need for fresh corpses...to snuff out innocent lives and sell still-warm bodies to the anatomists. Their foul crimes brought about a change in the law which ended the anatomists' dependency on body merchants...eradicating the conditions that led to the supply of body parts for profit...at least in Britain. But 200 years on...is anatomy murder still going on in other parts of the world? "The Body Merchants: The Shocking Truth about Anatomy Murder" Featuring: Expert interviews... Exclusive footage of real victims of the resurrection men snatched from their graves two centuries ago... The macabre mementos made from the body of William Burke... Horrifying witness accounts of the atrocities that are still taking place Watch as the shocking history of two centuries of shameful and sordid trade in bodies for profit is revealed... "The Body Merchants: The Shocking Truth about Anatomy Murder" is a fascinating 60 minute journey into the nefarious activities of the Georgian underworld examining the socio-legal problems of the resurrection era which spawned the body trade; recounting the true story of the serial killers Burke and Hare, who terrorised Edinburgh in the 1820's and revealing the secret dealings of Britain's most prominent anatomists who chose to look the other way in the interests of science. Plus, "The Body Merchants: The Shocking Truth about Anatomy Murder" exposes the terrifying reality that these crimes are not just confined to history...evidence exists that they are still happening today! Plus Exclusive Bonus Feature: The Burns Collection Dr. Ronn Wade (Director of the Anatomical Services Division of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Director of the Maryland State Anatomy Board) reveals the medical mummies who were victims of the resurrection men, illegally acquired for the dissecting table, and provides a special commentary about how these 200 year old specimens were preserved for the purpose of teaching anatomy. ©2010 Orickle Ltd. Algebra: Solving Linear Equations - Part 2: Applications (Sample 2)

[NOTE: This video is only a 12 minute portion of the full 3 hour lesson. Please visit my website to purchase complete version] This lesson consists of providing you with a Self-Tutorial on how to solve typical linear word problems (story problems or applied problems). The tutor shows you how to solve for a specific variable in formulas. He also discusses how to covert a repeating decimal into a fraction (which was skipped in Basic Math: Lesson 6 -"Fractions") and will teach you how to convert units of measurement. Examples of word problems done include: Finding a number based on certain criteria. Word problems involving some geometry (triangle, rectangle, circle). Age problems. Mixture problems. Money problems (story of my life!). Rate-Time-Distance problems. Percent Equations/problems. Ratio and Proportion (concepts and solving problems, including similar triangles). Problems dealing with Unit Price.

Algebra: Solving Linear Equations - Part 1: The Basics

[NOTE: This video is only the first 18 minutes of the full lesson, please visit my website to purchase complete version] Lesson consists of providing you with a Self-Tutorial on how to solve linear equations. Tutor discusses what is an Equation, Solution, Solution Set, Equivalent Equations, Identity, Contradictions, Conditional Equations, Linear Equations, the Standard Form of a Linear Equation. I show you how to actually SOLVE linear equations going step-by-step. I don't skip steps. I review some of the properties of Equality here too. I remind you to check the work done and how to solve linear equations using a calculator. At the end, you will know how to easily solve equations that look like: 2[y - (4y - 1)] = 5 - 9y No word problems are done here. This is shown in DETAIL in Part 2 of the Lesson.
